I had a little orientation this morning with a very friendly lady named Peggy. Her name fit her well--she looked a little quirky, down-to-earth, helpful, pleasant. I enjoy people like that--genuine people who love what they and want to share their passion. She is a volunteer at the Wildlife Rehab center here in Lubbock and she walked me through their facility at about 8 this morning. I can't really describe how much I like it there. It's just a good place, with good vibes and interesting inhabitants. I think my favorite was a little fox named Gracie, who poked out of her little burrow and immediately trotted over to us, climbed the fence and made little chirping noises at us. She was the sweetest little thing! I wish I were able to work with the larger mammals there, but I would need a rabies shot first and those run from about 400-500 bucks. I AM being offered vaccinations for my job here at TIEHH, since I'm working with animals, and they would be all paid for. However, I don't know how they would feel if I got them to pay for a vaccination just so I could handle mammals at a unaffiliated volunteer facility. I'm going to ask though--who knows, right? Anyway, I am very excited. We shall see.
I am some kind of sore at the moment. My quads, glutes, hamstrings, calves--they're all screaming at me simultaneously. It's at the point where I can't even walk normally--it's like I'm doing this weird sort of duck waddle thing, or at least that's what it feels like. I'm not really sure what it looks like to other people. I'm going to stretch and do some light weightlifting today, so hopefully that will help.
I've got softball games today!! I love softball so much, it will always be my first love, my first sport, my first great accomplishment. I used to be so awesome, back in elementary and Jr. high. Things have definitely changes, but back then--it was glorious. Then came high school, but we won't talk about that.

OH DEFINITELY. My tennis racket is in Brent's room--making me the saddest person on the planet this summer :(. I know this won't mean much to you but I beat my own high score on 'Sweet Child of Mine' on Guitar Hero..yes I am a nerd. Aww I'm jealous, you got to see a fox :)
When are you going to volunteer? That sounds amazingly cool.
