In a Friend's Words: Job Part II

So, I had a little impromptu interview today that went surprisingly well. I had returned to Red Raider Outfitters to give them back an application I had filled out. Yes, an application. My research job isn't going to cut it this summer, it's only part time and I need full time and something nearby. Anyway, they seemed to really like me and the fact that I am an art minor (they design their own merchandise, which I think is really cool). Essentially, they said for me to call them tomorrow to say if I wanted the job or not! Hah, I wish that always happened, instead of an ambiguous "we'll let you know." I'm excited, but also nervous. I'm sure I can handle this, I'm just aprehensive about conflicts in my schedule-whether my research job will prove to be more demanding than it has been. I have about 24 hours to think it over, though. It's not in stone just yet.

This Friday we--HHMI scholars--are going on a little retreat to Mason Mountain in South Texas. It's a neat place to go hiking and "herping" as some like to call it (snake hunting--don't worry, no snakes will be harmed in the process). I was surprised last year how much I enjoyed Junction, where we sat by the fire at night and hiked around during the day. Now I'm much better acquainted with the people so I'm really excited. It will be a nice reprieve from studying.

Speaking of studying, I apparently can't get enough of the stuff. I have a lab final tomorrow, FOUR FINALS ON MAY 1st!!! and one on May 2nd. I cannot believe that I managed to get four, non-conflicting finals on the same stupid day. I'm going to ask my cell professor if I can take his on another day, so we shall see. I may have to get ugly--it's just too much for anyone.

I am getting increasingly excited about going to Washington. I cannot wait!! Summer vacations with my sisters are always my absolute favorite. I feel like I'm with people who are like me, who understand me, who care about me and who like to have fun the same way I do. YAY!

That is an amazing picture of you. I love it. Oh, and I'm pretty sure there is a mandatory Tech policy that says you don't have to take 4 finals in a day- so don't take no for an answer. :) I can't wait for DC either. YEAH!! ~Erin
